Fauces de la noche

(CASTELLANO) Fauces de la noche es una de esas películas que se borran de la cabeza casi al mismo ritmo al que avanzan. Tiene vampiros, noche, luces de neón, coches, fiestas, sangre, gente guapa y una ciudad que debería convertirse en un tablero peligroso. Sobre el papel, podía haber sido una mezcla ligera y divertida de thriller nocturno y fantasía vampírica. El problema es que todo se queda en la superficie. La película es tan simple que cuesta incluso enfadarse con ella. Más que mala de forma escandalosa, resulta plana. Avanza de una escena a otra sin verdadera tensión, sin personajes que importen demasiado y sin una mitología vampírica que tenga fuerza. Hay películas tontas que al menos tienen energía, descaro o alguna escena memorable. Esta ni siquiera deja eso. Pasada una semana, cuesta recordar algo concreto, y esa quizá sea la peor señal. Visualmente intenta vender una noche elegante, peligrosa y algo sexy, con clubes, luces de colores y vampiros modernos moviéndose por Los Ángeles como si fueran dueños de la ciudad. Pero todo parece más un envoltorio que una idea. La estética está ahí, la música intenta empujar, los personajes entran y salen, pero no hay verdadero mundo detrás. La película quiere tener estilo, pero le falta personalidad. Tampoco ayuda que el terror sea muy flojo. No hay apenas miedo, ni sensación de amenaza real, ni una violencia especialmente impactante. Los vampiros deberían imponer, seducir o inquietar, pero aquí parecen más una excusa para montar una aventura nocturna bastante rutinaria. Lo que debería morder se queda en gesto. Lo que debería ser peligroso acaba pareciendo una fiesta larga y bastante aburrida. Los actores cumplen dentro de lo que pueden, y hay algún momento que se deja ver sin dolor, pero el guion no les da demasiado margen. Todo es demasiado previsible, demasiado ligero y demasiado poco trabajado. La película pasa por el thriller, el terror, la acción y el romance sin decidirse nunca a ser buena en ninguno de esos terrenos. Fauces de la noche no es una catástrofe absoluta, pero sí una pérdida de tiempo bastante clara. Tiene una premisa que podía haber servido para pasar un rato divertido, pero se queda en un producto vacío, sin mordiente y sin memoria. No asusta, no emociona, no sorprende y ni siquiera entretiene lo suficiente como para justificar su propia existencia. Vampiros con colmillos, sí; película con mordida, ninguna. It has vampires, night, neon lights, cars, parties, blood, attractive people and a city that should become a dangerous playground. On paper, it could have been a light and fun mix of nocturnal thriller and vampire fantasy. The problem is that everything remains on the surface. The film is so simple that it is hard even to get angry at it. Rather than being spectacularly bad, it is flat. It moves from one scene to the next without real tension, without characters who matter very much and without a vampire mythology strong enough to hold your attention. Some silly films at least have energy, nerve or one memorable scene. This one does not even leave that behind. A week later, it is difficult to remember anything specific, and that may be the worst sign. Visually, it tries to sell an elegant, dangerous and slightly sexy night, with clubs, colored lights and modern vampires moving through Los Angeles as if they owned the city. But it all feels more like packaging than an idea. The look is there, the music tries to push things along, the characters come and go, but there is no real world behind it. The film wants to have style, but it lacks personality. It also does not help that the horror is very weak. There is hardly any fear, no real sense of threat and no violence with much impact. Vampires should be imposing, seductive or unsettling, but here they feel more like an excuse to stage a fairly routine night adventure. What should bite barely scratches. What should feel dangerous ends up looking like a long and rather boring party. The actors do what they can, and there are a few moments that are watchable enough, but the script gives them very little room. Everything is too predictable, too light and too underdeveloped. The film passes through thriller, horror, action and romance without ever deciding to be good at any of them. Night Teeth is not an absolute disaster, but it is a fairly clear waste of time. It has a premise that could have made for a fun watch, but it becomes an empty, toothless and forgettable product. It does not scare, it does not move, it does not surprise and it does not even entertain enough to justify its own existence. Vampires with fangs, yes; a film with bite, no.
